Derek A. Jones

Derek A. Jones is a native of western North Carolina. He grew up in the nearby town of Drexel, suburb of Morganton, North Carolina, where some of his family members continue to live. He enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, and he enjoys attending church where he leads worship at Tabernacle of Praise in Fletcher, North Carolina.

Education:

Mr. Jones’s undergraduate education included two years at Catawba Valley Community College (2005-2007) where he played shooting guard/point guard for the back-to-back conference champion Buccaneers basketball team. In 2007, he earned the status award of NJCAA Distinguished Academic All-American in the sport of basketball. He then attended The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, graduating cum laude, and majoring in finance and marketing in 2010. He earned a Juris Doctor Degree from the Charlotte School of Law, graduating cum laude in 2013. Mr. Jones has been licensed and practicing law in the State of North Carolina since 2013.

Civic Activities:

Mr. Jones stays involved with church activities at Tabernacle of Praise. He plays the acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar, piano, and percussion. His top pick for reading pleasure is the historic collection of writings known as The Holy Bible (multiple versions).
